Well, yes… but a few additional points might be relevant.
Whatever comes out Starmer’s face hole while McSweeney is operating him is not necessarily a fully baked plan.
Whether it be Boats (former Holy Loch submariner here) or Bombs, much of the current budget drama is not a serious proposal. The current Pantomime O’ Cruelty proposed by Reeves et.al. Is not going to get the UK anywhere close to being able to afford either of those proposals.
Does the UK need to bolster its Defense acquisitions (while hopefully moving AWAY from the US and toward the EU)?
Absolutely, given the current risk environment
Is a philosophical shift away from the current nuclear MADhouse possible anytime soon?
Nope.
We had an opportunity in the 1990-1991ish time frame, though we in the west decided that it was better to let Russia devolve into a Mafia state such that we could vacuum off their resources at a bargain price to feed western industry.
Whoopsy…
So now, the same f-er that we let take charge for capital expediency is the primary (though not ONLY) reason we can’t get of the plutonium hamster wheel.
Starmer’s budget is, as it currently exists, simply a performative distraction from the sh-tshow that McSweeney and his capital overlords have created.
When some governmental body goes after the City of London (as a financial and money laundering entity), then you’ll know things are serious. Until then it’s all hand waving and flash paper.
You obviously put a lot of work and spirit into your analysis. Well done.👍
Thanks Paul. I agree with everything you've said here. Starmer, who by the way was a complete foormat for the US ain its obsessive pursuit and torment of Julian Assange, is destroying the Labour party, though with plenty of help from the party leadership. '

I agree with Paul, nice work and effort Dave in putting this out there.
Best
