Thank you Dave ---- you are of course right in asking Biden to do the right thing. I am very glad my brother's member of Congress, Jim McGovern (D, Ma) has publicly called for him to acknowledge what EVERYONE who has studied the case now admits --- our mother wasn't a spy, period the end. The government took her as a hostage to put pressure on my father to roll on his friends how he had recruited. When my parents refused to "play ball" the government killed the hostage. Let's hope Biden does the right thing ...

I see. So if you learn of a plot to drive a car into a crowd of people, you would never roll on a friend.

In October of 2014 it was announced that David Greenglass had died. His testimony on the Rosenbergs convicted his sister Ethyl and the newspaper accounts of his death covered that part of the story.

He had accused them of being part of his spy ring, all recruited from within the communist party to steal atomic secrets. The press had the chance to toss around the term, "McCarthyism" and imply he had lied to convict them. Let's cut the bullshit.

First David Greenglass died on July 1st in NYC. I have no idea why his death was disguised.

But the lives of spies are often shrouded in myth, rumors and legend. Without question David Greenglass was a paid KGB agent. He was far more than an unwitting dupe or innocent man pressured by Roy Cohn to testify. He was a Soviet spy who when caught had the choice of either saving his family or saving his spy cell. He chose his family. His wife and two kids. The American public was never told he was a KGB spy.

Because our security during World War 2 was virtually non existent when it came to the Soviets, Greenglass had actually openly recruited at Los Alamos where he worked on the Manhattan Project It was pretty easy to catch him years later when we actually decided to look. He had actually told one co-worker that Russia should have access to the atomic bomb. Not even the FBI could keep ignoring that one.

In 2009 the KGB opened their files on the case, and materials passed to them by Julius and Ethyl were marked, "Highly valuable." There was something else the American public was never told.

Ethyl had recruited David through his wife to spy for the KGB. It might do well to explain what a spy cell is. Think of a bicycle wheel You have your hub, the core which is the actual paid person, trained in espionage. The spokes however you may never know. Many aren't paid regularly or at all. Putting together the spokes on the wheel is a spymasters greatest challenge. Ethyl who was KGB paid by them, recruited her brother for them.

She had been exposed by a Soviet cypher clerk Igor Gouzinko who defected to the West with the key to the Soviet coded messages. Once we could read the messages, we began to understand the scope of infiltration that had been allowed to happen.

The Rosenbergs had been in contact with other spy cells around the country, and were offered if they gave up the names of the people in those spy rings they would walk. They refused.

David Greenglass regretted one thing. Not being able to stop communists from parading the Rosenberg's kids around. Giving them speeches to deliver. Using them to raise money and humiliate this country.

If that wasn't child abuse, there is no child abuse.

(All the above information has been declassified in the UK and published so it is an open source. I do not reveal classified information unless it has been declassified or written about elsewhere. In today's case, this information has been released by the Brits. Americans still don't know Greenglass was a Soviet spymaster, that Ethyl recruited people to the spy ring or even his correct death date!)

Honestly, the real issue is the pardon power itself. IT is an absolute power with zero check and balances. That is why we need an amendment in the constitution to either abolish the power OR to regulate the power.

the whole idea of including in the Constitution the presidential pardon power as an absolute without review, is that the Founders wanted there to be a some way to prefent a miscarriage of justice because of a political hysteria or national 'lynch mob" sentiment.

There is actually a remedy to corrupt use of the pardon power. A president can ge found impeachable or even, after leaving office, criminally liable if there was a corrupt effort -- a tit-fopr-tad arrangement -- for granting of a pardon -- for example a bribe or a big campaign contribution. Te pardon in that case might not be reversible, I suspect, but the president who granted it could be punished. i don't think it is a bad idea. ActualllyChinese, British and other countries newly crowned monarchs, especially in ancient times, would forgive debtors of their debts and would release prisoners to start their reigns off well. I think that would be a great tradition to revive here in the US.

If the pardon is reversable, punishing the person who committed the pardon is useless. Especially since the punishment would be a slap on the wrist at best.

Forgiving debtors of debt simply hurts the group who loaned the money. And would make it harder for other people to borrow money.

And releasing prisoners that are murders or violent offenders is a silly idea.

Absolute power is always a bad idea. And the pardon power, an absolute power, is a bad/ dangerous idea.

First of all Michael, it's not an either or thing. Biden should exonerate Ethel Rosenberg because Trump will never do it, since one her key prosecutors was an Asst AG named Roy Cohn, who was a longtime atorney for Trump. As for people jailed for marijuana, they should b freed, but since most of Trump's MAGA cult are MJ usewrs, he should have no problrm legalizing it and also pardening all those jailed for use of selling it.

Your conspirracy thinking about Covid is all messed up. Trump was president from 2016 to Jan. 20, 2020. The democrats were in no position to "hide" information about Covid in China in November and December of 2019 or in JANUARY 2020. TRUMP WAS the president then. It was Trump that disbanded the team that the CDC had in China monitoring for new epidemics there, resulting in a lack of knowledge about what was starting to happen. Your whole story lacks the facts and is nonsense, I'm afraid. If anyone hid information about what was coming to the US it was Biden. Trump was busy denying that Covid would even come to the US in his last months in office.
